Privacy Policy
How we collect, use and protect your information.
Last updated: 1 August 2026
ThinkerLab (“we”, “us”) provides robotics and coding programs for children aged 6–14 across Australia. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and how we handle it, consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Because our students are children, we hold ourselves to a high standard: we collect the minimum we need, we never sell personal information, and parents stay in control.
1. What we collect
- Account details — when you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google. We never see your Google password.
- Booking and enquiry details— parent/guardian name and contact details, your child’s first name and age, suburb/postcode, and anything you tell us to keep your child safe at a session (e.g. allergies). Bookings made through TryBooking or Stripe are also subject to those providers’ privacy policies; we never receive your full card number.
- Newsletter and download sign-ups— email address and the details you choose to share (such as your child’s age band and suburb) so we can tell you about workshops near you.
- Website usage — we use analytics tools (Google Analytics and PostHog) to understand how the site is used — pages visited, approximate location, device type. This data is aggregated and not used to identify you personally.
2. Children’s information
- We only collect information about a child from their parent or guardian — children do not create accounts or submit forms on this site.
- We collect only what we need to run a safe, well-matched class: first name, age, and any safety-relevant notes a parent provides.
- Photos or videos in which a child is identifiable are only used for marketing with parental consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
3. How we use information
- To run bookings, classes and accounts, and to contact you about sessions your child attends.
- To send workshop updates and offers you have signed up for — every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- To improve our programs and website.
- We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. Ever.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers we use to run ThinkerLab:
- Payment and booking platforms (TryBooking, Stripe) to process payments.
- Google, for sign-in and analytics.
- Email providers (e.g. Resend) to deliver booking confirmations and updates.
- Our database and hosting providers, who store data on our behalf.
Some providers may store data outside Australia (for example, in the US or EU). We choose reputable providers with strong security practices. We will disclose personal information where required by law, or where necessary to protect the safety of a child.
5. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies for essential site functions — keeping you signed in, remembering a sign-in in progress — and analytics cookies to measure site usage. You can block cookies in your browser; essential features like staying signed in won’t work without them.
6. Security and retention
- Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in access-controlled databases. Sign-in sessions use short-lived, signed tokens.
- We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law (e.g. financial records), then delete or de-identify it.
7. Access, correction and deletion
You can ask us at any time to see the personal information we hold about you or your child, correct it, or delete it (including closing your account and unsubscribing from all communications). Email [email protected]and we’ll respond within a reasonable time — usually a few business days.
8. Changes and complaints
We may update this policy from time to time; the current version always lives on this page with its “last updated” date. If you have a privacy concern, contact us first at [email protected] — we take these seriously. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
