Robotics and Coding Incursion Programs

Engaging, curriculum-aligned robotics and coding workshops designed for schools and OSHC services. Our hands-on incursions use VinciBot robots to develop coding, problem-solving, creativity and teamwork through exciting, age-appropriate challenges.

Intro to coding

First Coders – Code & Race

Introduce young learners to the exciting world of coding through hands-on robotics. Students use VinciBot to learn how robots follow instructions while exploring sequencing, logical thinking and problem-solving through fun coding challenges. Through storytelling, prediction activities and robot races, children develop confidence in coding while working together in an engaging, play-based environment.

Young Coders – Code Real Robots

$550+ GST · Ages 7–9 · 90 minutes · up to 30 students

Students take their coding skills further by programming real robots to move, respond and solve challenges. Using block-based coding, they explore sequencing, logic and sensors while learning how software controls hardware. The workshop concludes with exciting team challenges that encourage collaboration, communication and problem-solving.

Young Innovators – Build, Code & Compete

$650+ GST · Ages 8+ · 2 hours · up to 30 students

A complete engineering experience where students design, build and program their own robot before putting it to the test in an exciting competition. Students discover how robots are used in the real world, learn fundamental engineering concepts and develop perseverance as they build, test and refine their creations.

First Coders — Code & Race (Ages 6–7)

The perfect first step for young learners. Through storytelling, prediction games and robot races with VinciBot, they'll discover how robots follow instructions — building sequencing, logical thinking and confidence in a play-based hour.

Young Coders — Code Real Robots (Ages 7–9)

For kids ready to make a robot do exactly what they want. They'll write real block code to control movement, explore sensors and decision-making, debug their programs and compete in a robot relay. More “I made it do that.”

ThinkerLab runs mobile robotics, coding and STEM incursions — hands-on science and engineering for kids — at OSHC and vacation care services, primary schools, libraries and community venues across Melbourne’s north and west, including Epping, Craigieburn, Taylors Hill, Caroline Springs and Melton.

How many children can take part?
Up to 30 children per session. For larger services we can run back-to-back sessions on the same day so every group gets the full experience.
What ages is it suitable for?
Sessions are age-banded so every group gets the right challenge: First Coders (ages 6–7), Young Coders (ages 7–9) and Young Innovators (ages 8+). Children work in pairs, so younger students are supported throughout.
What do we need to provide?
An indoor space with tables, chairs and access to a power point. We bring everything else — robots, iPads, the race track and activity booklets.
How long does setup take?
We arrive before your session starts and handle all setup and pack-down. There is nothing for your educators to prepare.
Do you have WWCC, insurance and risk assessments?
Yes. All facilitators hold a current Victorian WWCC, we carry public liability insurance, and a program-specific risk assessment is completed for every incursion. We also have a documented child safety policy aligned with the Victorian Child Safe Standards. The full compliance documentation pack is available on request before you book.
Can children with additional needs participate?
Yes. Sessions are structured and calm, children work in pairs, and activities are differentiated for mixed abilities. Tell us about your group when booking and we will adapt the session.
Do children need any prior experience?
No. Every session is designed for complete beginners, with extension challenges ready for kids who race ahead.
How does payment work?
Prices are flat — from $450 + GST for up to 30 students, which works out to around $15 per child for a fully staffed session with all equipment supplied. We issue a formal quote and tax invoice suitable for your service’s purchase order or approval process.
Are your STEM incursions curriculum-aligned?
Yes. Our primary school STEM incursions map to the Victorian Curriculum: Digital Technologies, building computational thinking, sequencing and real coding. They suit OSHC and vacation care programs as well as in-school STEM, Science Week and end-of-term days across Victoria.
Where do you travel?
We deliver incursions Melbourne-wide — including the northern growth corridor around Epping and Craigieburn, and the western suburbs around Taylors Hill, Caroline Springs and Melton. Tell us your suburb when you enquire and we will confirm availability for your dates.
Can you run more than one session in a day?
Yes. Many services book two sessions back-to-back to cover larger groups or split younger and older children.
