Free trial FAQ

Everything parents usually ask before booking a first session.

Is the free trial really free?
Yes. The trial is designed to help families see the teaching style and experience before choosing a term class or workshop.
What happens in the trial class?
Kids get a guided, hands-on introduction where they build, code, test and debug a small project—so you can see how we teach.
What ages is the trial best for?
The free trial is typically best for ages 6–14. If you’re unsure, book a spot and we’ll help you pick the best fit.
Does my child need any experience?
No experience is required. We start with fundamentals and support each child at their pace.
What should my child bring?
For in-person trials, we provide the equipment. Just bring your child ready to build and experiment.
Can parents stay during the trial?
It depends on the venue and session format. If you need to stay, let us know and we’ll guide you on the best option.
What if we can’t make it after booking?
Contact us as early as you can at [email protected] or 0426 693 283 and we’ll help you reschedule based on availability. We keep changes simple.
Are your educators child-safe checked and insured?
Yes. All ThinkerLab facilitators hold a current Victorian Working With Children Check (WWCC), we carry public liability insurance, and we follow a documented child safety policy aligned with the Victorian Child Safe Standards.
Where do trial classes run?
We run sessions in Melbourne’s west, including Caroline Springs and Melton. Tell us your suburb when you book and we’ll match you with the closest upcoming session.
What’s the next step after the trial?
If your child enjoys it — and most do — you can join a 9-week term class for steady week-by-week progression, or book a school holiday workshop for a shorter taste. We’ll recommend the right level based on what we see in the trial.
